Thinking About Consciousness

Me. Hungry. Want. Food. Hmmm. Why?
Me. Hungry. Want. Food. Hmmm. Why?

Consciousness is glorious and very seriously mysterious.

Might it be just a straight-up math-like computation?

Straight up processed up in the brain like hardware?

Or perhaps more an algorithmic sort of recursive program?

A program running on gooey wetware in the mind like software?

Or maybe something more spiritual as in a miracle?

A miracle of a soul that's inside the like I don't know where?

Either way it’s to die for.

I love the GUI graphical user interface,

And all of the high-definition audiovisual content,

That so easily live streams and does so wirelessly,

With each ear and eye pair's bluetooth-like input,

Not to mention the generous amount of memory,

A lifetime worth of it that enables me to save so many.

And I love how all the data processing seems like some sort of a Siri,

Like a personal assistant that helps me bounce ideas,

A sorta inner-voice that sounds like out-loud thinking,

That was delivered with the voice option setting already preset to Me.

But who wrote the source code?

And why's 'try not to die' the sole instruction?

I agree that it's very wise but why's it the only?

Was that to imply that all non-living matter does not at all matter?

I only ask cause this seems almost contrary,

To most the weight of the universe entirely,

For as rare as life is does not this just one source code instruction neglect all the non-living?

Moreover is not 'try not to die' a survival instruction, so why is entropy never not increasing?

Or could it be that we each are a part of a bigger thing?

And if so might that bigger thing be itself a larger being?
