Seven-year-old Sally is sitting by the tree on Christmas morning by her mountain of just-opened presents. Her parents now in the kitchen, she’s gushing all over her new things and checking them out.
She puts down her new American Girl doll, picks up her new Tablet and asks, “Okay Google! Is Santa Claus real?”
Halfway down her first page, Sally finds a link to an article named ‘How to break it to your kids that Santa Claus is not real.’
Sally’s eyebrows draw close together making a huge knot at the bridge of her tiny nose. Scrolling the pages. More and more links admitting to more of the same bad news. She’s seen too much. Heartbroken. She throws her phone across the room. It bounces off the fireplace mantle halfway back to her, with a cracked screen. She picks up her now-broken present to investigate the damage she caused to it. Both of her eyes are filled up to the brim with tears that have yet to get heavy enough to drip down her cheeks.
From the kitchen mom announces, “Okay Sally! It’s time to start getting ready for church!”
